Navigation Safety Bylaws 2012

The bylaws ensure boaties, jetski users, kayakers, waka ama, rowers, fishers and swimmers are able to safely enjoy their time in and on Hawke's Bay rivers and coastal waters.

After public consultation on the bylaws in 2011 changes were made and approved by Council. The summary of issues which prompted the early review of the bylaws in 2011 can be viewed on this website.

As well as this booklet, there is a Water Recreation Guide brochure which summarises key elements of these bylaws and includes all the maps on one page. Copies are available at Hawke's Bay Regional Council offices, visitor information centres, yacht and boat clubs and the Coastguard.

For any advice or information on navigation safety in Hawke’s Bay waters please contact - The Harbourmaster, Hawke's Bay Regional Council, ph 06 833 4525 or 06 835 9200 (or 0800 108 838) or harbourmaster@hbrc.govt.nz
