Governance Statement

The Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s Local Governance Statement is a collection of information about the processes that Council uses to engage with the region’s residents.

It outlines how Council makes decisions and shows how residents can influence those processes. It also promotes local democracy by providing the public with information on ways they can influence local democratic processes.

The Council’s Local Governance Statement is a requirement of Section 40 of the Local Government Act 2002. Council must update the governance statement within six months of each triennial election.
