Calling for Environmental Award Entries

The Hawke’s Bay Environmental Awards are now open for entries and nominations until 15 July.  You can get involved by entering people or organisations in your community that you think are making a significant difference in raising awareness of environmental issues or are taking action to care for our environment.

New Pathway Gets Out of the City

Fancy a breath of fresh rural air? Want a walk or bike ride through a paddock by a river? Don’t want to go too far from home?

The new Rotary pathway that links Guppy Road in Taradale with Awatoto has been completed, with the Regional Council laying a limesand trail mostly along stopbanks and passing through rural areas.    The access is for walkers, bike riders and even pushchairs, but is closed to motor vehicles.   It runs along side the Tutaekuri River, offering a pleasant country escape for recreation.  Read more in the Big Picture.

Draft Regional Passenger Transport Plan

Submissions have closed on the draft Regional Passenger Transport Plan which sets out what passenger transport services (buses and Total Mobility taxis) Council will provide over the next 3 - 5 years.
