10:30am Marine Rescue
Come and learn about Marineland’s role in the rescue and rehabilitation of many marine animals. Then find out what YOU can and can’t do to help. One of the “residents” will make an appearance and tell their own story. (Kid friendly)
11am Sing Along with Kelvin Roy
Singer songwriter, Kelvin Roy, will be performing his own marine themed children’s songs His music is guaranteed to please all ages. (Kid friendly)
11:30am Ka pu te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi
Throw out the old net, the new net goes fishing.
The newly formed ‘Guardians of Hawke Bay Fisheries’ will introduce local fisherman Rick Burch, who has developed a net which minimises by-catch and reduces fuel consumption. Come and learn all about it. (Older kids and adults)
12 noon Wave Warfare
Coastal change is normal and natural but can sometimes impact on our lives. Come and learn about the different protection options and why some work better than others. (Older kids and adults)
1pm Colenso sea songs and shanties
Back by popular demand. Come and be entertained by students singing and performing their sea shanties. (Kid friendly)
1:30pm My, what big teeth you have…
Come and discover why sharks are at the top of the food chain. Come and see first hand what makes them so special. (Kid friendly)
2pm Penguins and Pollution
Come and play some games with Marineland staff and see what happens when we ‘biff’ our rubbish away. (Kid friendly)
2:30pm Story Telling
Fun activities for kids in Te Reo Maori and English. (Kid friendly)
