2007 Environmental Award Winners

Hawke’s Bay Environmental Awards 2007 were presented at a ceremony at the Hawke’s Bay Opera House on 26 October by guest speaker Keith Valentine, Vectek Electronics Ltd.

WINNERS 2007

Ede Award for Environmental Education - Taruna College Havelock North
Biodynamic and organic education programmes for farmers, orchardists, winegrowers

Individual - Dr Michael (Mike) Lusk 
For long service and focussed protection and enhancement of Te Mata Peak and Park, including specialised planting and care of rare ecosystems

Business – Clean Earth Ltd
For green waste management and recycling
Deborah and Robert Burnside, owners.

New Product or Service – EcoPlus, waste water recycling system
A product saving up to 70% of grey water for reuse, extend the operation of in ground wastewater systems
Don Sorenson , Water Management Systems.

Community -  Waimarama Development and Protection Society
Coastal dune and beach protection, including construction of walkways, barriers, raising plants from seed, planting – and all the volunteer effort that goes into it!
