In 2011 we have several Free Teacher Workshops planned for teachers of early childhood, primary, intermediate and secondary.
The topic, venue and details for the July and October workshops have not yet been confirmed. If you would like to suggest a topic that you are interested in or would like more information on the workshops, please contact Emily Rockwell by email or phone on (06) 833 8036.

When: 8.00am – 5pm, Saturday 2 April 2011 (week 9)
Where: Te Angiangi Marine Reserve. The bus will pick up in 3 places: leaving Napier 8am, leaving Hastings 8.40am and leaving Waipawa 9.15am to arrive at Blackhead Beach at 10am. If you would like to drive yourself, please meet the bus at Blackhead parking area.
Who: Teachers of primary, intermediate and secondary schools – you are also invited to bring 1 school age child with you
Why: Visit Hawke’s Bay’s first Marine Reserve. Gain professional development on our marine environment. Become confident to lead marine activities and games that you can integrate into your curriculum. Learn how to use Te Angiangi as a school camp venue or day marine study.
Curriculum links: science, art, numeracy, social sciences, technology, literacy, health and physical education
Please bring a picnic lunch, sun block, a hat, H20 bottle, your camera, wet weather and warm gear and shoes that can get wet.
We will provide you with the information, resources and hands on experience to lead your own marine study at Te Angiangi Marine Reserve with your class/school. During this workshop we will look at Blackhead Beach, Aramoana and Pourerere accommodation options, snorkelling at Stingray Bay, get our hands wet doing a variety of scientific marine studies/activities/games, visit the newly restored Aramoana Woolshed and hear from experts in the Marine field.
