Regional Council Meeting in Central HB
Hawke's Bay Regional Council’s next regular meeting will be held in Central Hawke’s Bay on 26 March. This is a new initiative to take the Council out to the region occasionally.
The meeting will be open to the public. It will start at 2pm at the CHB District Council Chambers in Waipawa.
On the agenda will be usual Council meeting business plus the strategic Goals and Objectives, the setting of portfolios for Councillors in strategic areas, and the adoption of the Draft Annual Plan for 2008/09. The draft Annual Plan will be available for public consultation on 14 April.
The meeting will be part of the field trip Councillors and senior staff will be undertaking through Central Hawke’s Bay on Wednesday and Thursday 26-27 March. This familiarisation tour is a usual event at the beginning of each new Council term. The Regional Council travelled to Wairoa District earlier this year.
Councillors and Executives get to see first hand many of the Council’s programmes through the region and can discuss these with staff and others on site. Some Central Hawke’s Bay District Councillors will join Regional Councillors during sections of this field trip to discuss local aspects of interest.
The field trip will take in gravel extraction management, flood management, dairying, coastal management, wetland restoration, and water quality. Councillors will also visit the Ruataniwha Plains to discuss the project proposed in the draft Annual Plan to investigate in more detail the interaction between the groundwater and the surface water flows on the plains.
