Lifestyle Block Field Day a Chance to Learn More
Lifestyle Block Field Day
Saturday 5 April from 9am to 3pm
at Hawke’s Bay Showgrounds in Hastings.
Hawke’s Bay lifestyle block owners and would-be owners can find out more about what it takes to run a successful lifestyle block this Saturday.
The Lifestyle Block Field Day opens at 9 am on Saturday 5 April at the Hawke’s Bay Showgrounds.
It gives everyone – from current lifestyle block owners to prospective buyers – the best chance of getting information on everything from adding value to their block to water supply issues and controlling pests. It is organised by Hawke's Bay Regional Council with support from sponsors, and offers workshops and practical demonstrations as well as exhibits.
Hawke’s Bay Regional Councils environmental education advisor Anita Murrell says staff specialists from the Regional Council will be at the field day, along with a range of other businesses and organisations which can provide services to lifestyle blocks.
“A dedicated field day allows everyone to go to one venue to find out what they need to know about the many aspects of running a lifestyle block,” says Anita.
“Often lifestyle block owners are at work during the day when Regional Council staff are out and about, so the Field Day allows them to chat with experts about any issues they have or get advice about their land.”
Anita says lifestyle blocks have become increasingly popular since the annual field day was first held 12 years ago years ago with more and more people choosing the country lifestyle.
Shaun Tong from Property Brokers, who has been selling lifestyle blocks for 12 years and attending the field days for almost as many years, agrees.
He says the region is a true lifestyle destination and, coupled with the horticultural component of the bay, it is a very attractive proposition for potential lifestyle block buyers.
“Many of the region’s lifestyle properties have fabulous river or sea views and productive land with the majority within 30 minutes drive from our towns.”
Shaun says during the last 12 years there’s been a three-fold increase in the values of lifestyle blocks and they are still proving extremely popular.
“People love having their very own piece of paradise in the country and what better place to have than Hawke’s Bay!” |
