Waipawa Town Hall
7pm, Tuesday 15 April
Hawke's Bay Regional Council will be presenting a second ‘Let’s Talk Tukituki’ meeting, this time with a Central Hawke’s Bay focus, on Tuesday 15 April, 7 - 9pm at Waipawa Town Hall.
Council staff will provide an overview of the science, monitoring programmes and policies that affect the management of the Tukituki catchment. They will also discuss the current management of the oxidation ponds, water allocation issues and resource consent requirements.
“While there was a lot of public interest in the meeting last month in Havelock North and many people had their concerns about the river addressed, there weren’t many Central Hawke’s Bay people or water users there. This second meeting is to give them an opportunity to learn more about the Council’s monitoring and research programmes in the catchment, and ask questions particular to their district,” said Helen Codlin, Strategic Development Manager.
This meeting will be of particular interest to consent holders who use the Tukituki and Waipawa water resources. There will be an added focus on the proposed new research programme into the Ruataniwha groundwater and surface water interaction scheduled to start in July this year. Issues of water allocation and development will also be outlined.
Council staff will answer questions from the public, although replies to many of the questions asked at the Havelock North meeting last month are posted on this website and people may find it useful to check that information first. |
