Embracing Futures Thinking Launch

Hawke's Bay Regional Council has launched its Embracing Futures Thinking strategic goals and objectives at a breakfast presentation attended by more than 150 people on Thursday morning (15 May).

Well-known economic commentator Rod Oram, spoke about the global setting which is changing fast, key factors in that change and about building on strengths of the New Zealand culture, land and resources.

The Regional Council is inviting a number of prominent speakers over the next few months as part of its strategic goals focus. The speaker series aims to get Hawke’s Bay people thinking about the possible futures for Hawke’s Bay, including in water, land, renewable energy and the economy.

Council will also be talking to sector groups about various challenges that may confront the region.

“The speaker series will be used as both a focus for the Council’s draft strategic goals and objectives, and to ignite people’s thinking about the future for their family, their business and Hawke’s Bay as a whole. The Council welcomes input from anyone or any sector who has something to offer,” says Helen Codlin, Council’s Strategic Development Group Manager.

She says that various sector discussions are also being held and that anyone in Hawke’s Bay who is interested in learning more about the goals or the speakers can get information from this website.

The next speaker will be Peter Neilson, CEO of the Business Council for Sustainable Development on 16 July.
