Hawke's Bay Environmental Awards are open now for people who would like to enter their leading environmental projects. Applications for the awards need to be with Hawke's Bay Regional Council by 15 July.
The awards, as a joint project for Hawke's Bay Regional Council, Napier City Council and Hastings District Council, have recognised excellence in environmental achievement in Hawke’s Bay since 2003.
People can apply for their own project or nominate a person or project they think has been making a significant contribution to the care of our environment.
“The awards are an established part of our community and are great way to celebrate our Hawke’s Bay environment . With greater interest now in sustainability and global warming, the environmental awards are even more relevant,” said Cr Dave Pipe (Napier City) who is chairman of the Environmental Awards joint working group.
There are seven categories that people can enter - individual/family, community, rural, business/industry, products and services, cleaner production and environmental education.
“Whether your project is big or small, it gets the same attention - it’s the value of protecting our natural resources that is important.”
Successful winners have come from industry, the rural sector, business, education, tourism and community sectors. Past winners have included Vectek Electronics Ltd in Napier, Taruna College in Havelock North, the Youth Environment Council, and a number of schools and leading farmers.
Application forms and guidelines for entrants are available on this website along with the full list of past winners. |
