Manager Environmental Science
Closes 4pm on Friday 3 February
Are you ready for a leadership role in science?
Do you want a challenging role in a progressive Council?
This is an influential third tier position within Council reporting directly to the Group Manager – Resource Management. The main focus of the role is the development and implementation of the Council’s environmental research and ‘State of the Environment’ monitoring programmes. Leadership, both professionally and administratively, of a high performing team of scientists, resource analysts and technician is also a critical component of the role.
We are looking for applicants with a strong ability to analyse and plan for the ‘bigger picture’; to drive project delivery and display innovation and initiative and an ability to effectively communicate the ‘value added’ components of proposals. Staff leadership, management qualities, and pragmatism are essential, along with an ability to effectively communicate science outcomes, the drive to get things done and a sound understanding of financial and project planning. Previous experience in local government and with the Resource Management Act, would be a distinct advantage, but is not essential.
If you have these qualities and abilities, a relevant tertiary qualification and a background in science or environmental monitoring, then we would invite your application.
Applications close at 4 pm on Friday 3 February 2012 and a copy of the job description and application guidelines for this role are available on Council’s website www.hbrc.govt.nz.
