Richmond School has successfully applied to Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s LEAF (Local Environmental Action Fund).  They received $500 to build a school veggie garden with 8 raised beds. “This will promote sustainable education within our school and enhance our Fruit in Schools, Health Promoting, SunSmart and Healthy Eating programmes” said Lucy Jones who is a teacher aide at the school. LEAF aims to support non-profit groups and small businesses with environmental projects that will help achieve Hawke's Bay Regional Council’s strategic goals.
