Regional Chairman Election Date

Due to the resignation of Rex McIntyre as Chairman of Hawke's Bay Regional Council and Wairoa constituency representative, the remaining eight Councillors will be voting for a new Chairman on Tuesday 3 February 2009.

This election cannot be delayed as the Local Government Act states that the Council governing body must consist of elected council members and a chairman elected by those members.

This meeting was added to the schedule in order for Councillors to review the air quality provisions.

The election of Chairman has been added as a late item, as this is the first opportunity for Councillors to meet and vote.
