New Regional Council Chairman Elected

Cr Alan Dick has today been elected and sworn in as Chairman of Hawke's Bay Regional Council. Cr Dick was nominated by Cr Gilbertson and seconded by Cr Kirton.  The vote was unanimous. The resignation of Rex McIntyre as Chairman and Wairoa Councillor was received by the Chief Executive Andrew Newman on 28 January, making the election of a new Chairman necessary. Cr Christine Scott remains as Deputy Chairman, and the membership and chairmanship of Council committees will remain the same for the present. A by-election for the Wairoa constituency will be held in the next two months.
