Wairoa Constituency voting paper correction

Joint release from electionz.com and Hawke's Bay Regional Council

Voting papers for the Wairoa Constituency of the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council By-election have been posted to Wairoa electors this week.  Unfortunately there is an error on the voting paper that could cause confusion and requires clarification.

On the voting panel at the bottom of the voting paper, the Electoral Officer’s return address incorrectly says:

The Electoral Officer
Tararua District Council
PO Box 3138
Christchurch 8140

It should have said:

The Electoral Officer
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council
PO Box 3138
Christchurch 8140

All other details on the voting paper are correct, returned votes will reach the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Electoral Officer at the above address.

This error has occurred during the final proofing and printing process by council’s contractor, electionz.com Ltd.  Although the council name is incorrect, the voting papers are valid.  This error does not affect the integrity of the election. A letter explaining this error will be sent to all Wairoa electors today.

Electors are reminded that voting closes at 12 noon on Friday 24 April 2009.
