Socks, jandals, slippers and maybe even bare feet will be standard issue at Hawke’s Bay Regional Council today to help raise funds for this weekend’s Big Night In Telethon appeal.
Staff are going shoeless to support the appeal’s goal to raise funds for Kids Can Stand Tall, a charity which provides footwear, clothing and breakfast for poorer children in our schools.
Regional Council staff will pay a donation to be shoeless, but staff who need to wear footwear for workplace safety will be asked to pay a ‘targeted rate’ on their footwear for the day.
A morning tea bake sale and Social Club evening event will be held to boost funds for the telethon appeal.
