What is the Land Management Group?
The land management group comprises seven soil conservators, biodiversity managers and environmental foresters who work with the community to assist them to develop more sustainable land use practices. The team is very experienced with about 140 years of collective experience.

The team aims to increase the proportion of the region that is being used in ways considered to be sustainable through:
- liaising with farmers through one on one and group contacts,
- preparing soil conservation farm plans,
- supporting groups and their activities,
- running field days, and
- providing training in sustainable management techniques.
To encourage this work the team administers Council's Regional Landcare Scheme, which provides financial grant assistance for erosion control and protection works (planting, retirements and structures) and biodiversity protection through bush, on farm wetland and stream retirements and convenanting.
The Land Management team has a wide range of expertise, which is available to assist you or your group deal with any sustainable land management issue. If they cannot help you they will direct you to someone who can.
