Bus Timetable

Important Notice for Bus Passengers

To make travelling by bus even more attractive and convenient, improvements are being made to the following services:

Changes from Saturday 14th November

  • Route 12 – Napier to Hastings/Hastings to Napier – Saturday Service Only

Services between Napier and Hastings will increase to hourly. Buses will now leave Dalton Street, Napier and Eastbourne Street, Hastings at 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am, midday, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm.

Changes from Monday 16th November

  • Route 10 – Commuter Express

The 5.20pm from Dalton Street Napier will now depart at 5.10pm

  • Route 11 – Commuter Express

Dalton Street, Napier Departures - The 7.05am will now depart at 7.10am. The 4.45pm will now depart at 4.40pm.
Clock Tower, Havelock North Departures – The 7.05am will now depart at 7.15am. The 5.20pm will now depart at 5.10pm.

  • Route 12 – Napier to Hastings/Hastings to Napier – Monday to Friday

There will be an extra service daily, leaving Dalton Street, Napier and Eastbourne Street, Hastings at 2.30pm.

  • Route 13 – Napier-Tamatea-Taradale-Tamatea-Napier – Monday to Friday

This route is being extended into the centre of Taradale.
The bus will now travel from the Clock Tower, Avondale Road, along Lee Road and into Puketapu Road before turning into Church Road.
The bus stop on Neeve Road will no longer be used. However the bus will continue to stop at the Clock Tower and will also pick up outside Taradale Primary School.

  • Route 16A – Hastings-Camberley-Raureka-Hastings – Monday to Friday and
  • Route 16B – Hastings Mahora-Hastings – Monday to Friday

These routes will be combined at the end of the day to provide a new, later service enabling people who work in Hastings to travel home by bus at the end of the day. The bus will leave Eastbourne Street, Hastings at 5.10pm.

  • Route 20 – Hastings-Flaxmere-Hastings – Monday to Friday

Times of the first three morning services from Eastbourne Street, Hastings, are changing to enable people to get to work on time and students to get to EIT on time.
The 7am will now depart at 6.45am. The 7.25am will now depart at 7.15am. The 7.40 will now depart at 7.25am.
(EIT students travelling from Flaxmere should transfer to Route 12 at Hawke’s Bay Hospital).

  • Route 20 – Havelock North-Hastings-Flaxmere-Havelock North – Saturday Service Only

Times of the afternoon services from Havelock North Clock Tower are being changed.
The 12.20pm will now depart at 12.30pm. The 1.20pm will now depart at 1.30pm. The 2.20pm will now depart at 2.30pm.

  • Route 21 – Hastings-Havelock North-Hastings – Monday to Friday

The 7.35am from Sefton Street will now depart at 7.30am. The 5.15pm from Eastbourne Street, Hastings will now depart at 5.20pm.

Work is currently underway to update timetable booklets and timetable posters. In the meantime drivers will be distributing information to passengers and posters will be displayed on the buses.

General Information

Transfer Fares

Transfer free to any other goBay route (same zone) within 90 minutes of purchase of original ticket. Remember to hold on to your ticket. Free transfers do not apply to return journeys, broken journeys or Routes 10 and 11.

goBay Smartcards

goBay Smartcards can be purchased from any Go Bus driver for $17 (which includes $10 worth of travel). Cards can be topped up in multiples of $10 ($100 maximum). Refunds cannot be given on lost or damaged cards.

SuperGold Cards

SuperGold cardholders travel free between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday and on any of the usual Saturday services.

Hospital Patients

If you are travelling from Napier for an an appointment at Hawke’s Bay Hospital you can travel on the bus, free of charge, to and from the Hospital, if you show the driver a valid appointment card.

Weekend Services

Saturday services are available on Routes 12, 14 and 20. No services Sundays and Public Holidays.

If you have difficulty reading this timetable we can supply an easy-read version of your route. Please phone 878 9250.

Please signal the driver

• Passengers must wait on the kerb at a bus stop and clearly signal the driver.
• Passengers are advised to be at the bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is due.

The operator will endeavour to run the service according to the timetable, however routes and times are dependent on traffic flow and may vary.

Right of refusal

The driver has the right to refuse admission or remove passengers whose conduct is offensive.  Smoking and the consumption of foodstuffs and alcohol are strictly prohibited.
