Passenger Transport

Welcome to Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s web pages on passenger transport.

Passenger transport is a critical element in the economic development and social wellbeing of our region and Hawke's Bay Regional Council has a key role.

Go Bay bus services in and around Hastings, Flaxmere, Havelock North, Taradale and Napier  are managed by Hawke's Bay Regional Council and operated by GoBus.  Timetables are included here.

Road Safe HB is an organisation supported by the Hawke's Bay Regional Council whose aim is to reduce the incidence and severity of road crashes in the Hawke's Bay region.

The Total Mobility Scheme (TMS) provides subsidised taxi travel for Hawke’s Bay residents, who are unable to use public transport due to a significant, permanent impairment. It pays 50% of the cost of a taxi fare (up to a maximum amount) for those on the Scheme.

SuperGold card holders are eligible for free off-peak travel on public bus services in Napier and Hastings between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, and on any of the usual Saturday services.

The SuperGold Card is free to all New Zealander residents aged 65 years or over, and to those under 65 years receiving New Zealand Superannuation or a Veteran's Pension.  To apply, phone the SuperGold Card Centre on 0800 254 565, or go to the SuperGold website.

The Council is involved in planning ahead to manage the transport needs of the region into the future – the Regional Land Transport Strategy and Regional Passenger Transport Plan are available here.
