Rainfall

Hawke's Bay Emergency Management Group Website.

The Hawke's Bay Regional Council's rainfall monitoring network consists of both telemetered and non-telemetered sites across the Hawke's Bay region.

The data presented here is derived from the 38 telemetered gauges, many of which are associated with a corresponding river flow monitoring site. All sites use a 0.5mm tipping bucket raingauge and record rainfall intensity information at 15 minute intervals.

The primary purpose of the telemetered rainfall network is to provide an early flood warning network for the region, in particular in the Wairoa and northern part of the region. This information is normally updated back to our offices every 24 hours unless there is need for more intensive interrogation during a given storm event, when updates can be obtained every 15 minutes if necessary.
