The Hawke's Bay Regional Council's surface water network consists of automatic water level recording stations throughout the region.
The information presented here is from our telemetered network of 30 surface water flow sites through the region. For the surface water sites the information is gathered in the form of river height or "stage" and converted to actual river flows by the use of a rating curve. Because of the unstable nature of the beds of many of the region's rivers, the rating curves are subject to constant review and updating, particularly after each significant storm event.
Stage height levels shown here are staff gauge levels. Information on assessment of flood risks is also available.
