Welcome to Hawke's Bay Regional Council’s website pages about the Council itself.
Hawke's Bay Regional Council's broad responsibilities are the economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of the community. We have a major operational focus on the environment, managing effects on water, land, air and coastal use while providing opportunities for people to use these resources. Added to that, the Council has a leading role in biodiversity and biosecurity, regional economic investment, and in infrastructure such as transport and flood management. Our region extends from Mahia in the north, across to the ranges and down to Porangahau in the south.
In this section you will find information about our region. You can also find out more about our organisational structure, committees and access agenda papers and minutes.
A region that prospers and develops within a clean and healthy environment.
The Community Outcomes are the goals the community believes are important for its present and future social, economic, cultural and environmental wellbeing (More detail on these is in the Long Term Council Community Plan).
- A prosperous region
- A vibrant community
- A clean and healthy environment
There are many opportunities for Hawke's Bay residents to have their say and work with Councillors to make a better future for our region and our environment. Hawke's Bay ratepayers contribute to the funding of the Council and its work – so why not think about what you would like us to do and get involved in the planning process?
