Regional Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan

The current plan was adopted by Council at its meeting on the 24 September 2014 after being approved by the Director of Maritime New Zealand on 15 August 2014.

The objectives of the T2 Oil Spill Response Plan are to prevent further pollution from a marine oil spill, to contain and clean up an oil spill in a manner that will not cause any unreasonable risk of injury to any person, or cause further damage to the marine environment.

The plan allows for the escalation of a spill response in the event a spill is of such size or significance that is beyond the equipment capability located in Hawke's Bay. In such circumstances the spill response will be escalated to a T3 National Response.
