About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Risk and Corporate Compliance specialist to lead Regional Council's Business Continuity Plan, the development and implementation of assurance and risk management frameworks. The role will provide specialist leadership and advice on risk and assurance matters to the Executive Leadership Team. This includes the effectiveness of risk management, audit and assurance services, complaint processes and other controls across Council. Additionally you will develop HBRCs risk maturity framework, performing risk maturity assessments and reporting.

As a key function of the Corporate Services Group, the Risk and Corporate Compliance Lead is responsible for managing and leading a small team who hold the quality and information management portfolio’s. The team is responsible for;

  • The Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Business Continuity Plan.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of the systems and processes used by Council
  • Providing input to the development and implementation of an overarching records and document management strategy and framework for HBRC. 
  • Providing specialist advice and support services to internal staff on records and document management.
  • Quality Management System and audit records are up to date and of a high standard.

About you:

You will collaborate across Council, audit and monitor risk, reporting on operational and strategic risk trends and issues. Ideally you will have;

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory/compliance legislation and risk management
  • At least 3 years experience in a Senior Risk role.
  • Experience presenting to a range of audiences.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management, audit and risk frameworks.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the benefits of risk frameworks.

The salary range for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
