Emergency Management Advisor - Lifelines & Recovery

About the opportunity:

Then the HBRC CDEM group is looking for you.  We need an individual with a background in project management & strategy planning.  Experience with engineering lifelines, organisational resilience, or social recovery will also be helpful as this is a newly created role that focuses on recovery and building organisational resilience. 

Recovery from emergency events can be the most complex phase of emergency management involving the community, iwi, local authorities, businesses, and Government . This vital role will work to actively support our partner organisations and communities, enabling them to plan for the recovery phase of an event.

The role will see you developing strong stakeholder relationships, thinking of new, adaptive solutions to problems that present and establishing processes and protocols to reach positive outcomes. The work will also guide training that is aligned with the Group Recovery Strategy for our region.

You will be the subject matter expert for the group regarding lifelines and recovery. Innovation will be essential, allowing you to take advantage of opportunities to further the knowledge and understanding of recovery objectives in the region.

This is a permanent, fulltime role.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will need the ability to effectively communicate across a number of diverse organisations, developing a consistent, coordinated and professional emergency response to events. You will be able to work across a broad range of partners throughout the Hawke’s Bay region and build close working relationships with local staff, partner organisations and external agencies.

Alongside this you will be a team player and proactive thinker who has a passion for making improvements for our community.

Ideally you will have:

• A recognised tertiary qualification or certificate/diploma (Level 5 or above), or significant experience in a discipline relevant to planning, project management, engineering lifelines or social recovery.
• Experience working with stakeholders and community groups will be highly desirable.
• Experience in emergency management would be an advantage
• A positive, can-do attitude, with the flexibility to adjust to the wide and varied demands of a fast-paced work environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to tailor your style to a particular audience.

 The salary range for this role is between $75,687 to $84,097 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
