At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Project Manager to join the Catchment Management team on a two-year fixed term basis.  The key objective of the role is to ensure the continued delivery of the Hawkes Bay Regional Council 2019-2023 Hill Country Erosion Project which focuses on water quality improvements in Hawkes Bay.

The role is based in Napier and would suit a project manager who connects with people, works well under pressure and has experience supporting collaborative environmental projects.

About you:

You will need to have a strong understanding and experience in project management, and you’ll know what it takes to achieve results…. the ability to think and act quickly, apply pragmatism and flexibility, build rapport and credibility quickly with others, in particular Tangata Whenua and landowners, and engage stakeholders in order to bring it all together.  An understanding of water quality and environmental issues in New Zealand would be highly advantageous.

 Ideally you will also have:

• Proven ability to positively engage, empower and liaise with teams to be successful.
• Confidence with current IT and digitalisation approaches and trends.
• Knowledge of project management
• A proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to use your initiative
• Experience managing risks, issues, budgets and schedules, ideally within a PM environment.
