At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

 

About the Opportunity:

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for an Accounts Receivable Officer to join the Finance team.  The Finance team manages the rates payments, payables and receivables services, insurance, treasury and the broader accounting functions across the Council.

Initially reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and based in Napier, the Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for the full spectrum of end-to-end Accounts Receivable function for all non-rate invoices, ensuring accurate processing of general invoices, credit notes and monthly statements.

 

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have solid Accounts Receivable experience with knowledge of invoicing and debt recovery processes. You will be a strong problem solver, have excellent attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and strong communication skills to work with both internal and external stakeholders.  In return, you will be rewarded with the opportunity to be part of a close-knit team within an organisation that offers excellent benefits and working conditions.

You will also have:

  • Basic Accounting/Bookkeeping skills would be advantageous
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the importance of responding to requests in appropriate timeframes
  • Accurate data entry and with the ability to multi-task, adhere to deadlines and timeframes
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of Microsoft Office products and the ability to pick up our internal systems
  • Confidence in managing multiple tasks with ease and efficiency
  • A resilient and driven attitude
