Sustainable Transport Advisor

Our Transport team sits within the wider Policy and Regulation Group and manages Council’s responsibilities as set out in the Land Transport Management Act, the Local Government Act, and any subsequent acts. The delivery of the RoadSafe and Total Mobility functions of Council sit within this team, as does the determination of future strategies and planning for public transport to allow us to meet the ongoing needs of the Hawke’s Bay community.

About the Opportunity:

This diverse and interesting role will take the lead on programmes and projects that encourage the uptake of public and active transport in our region. There will be plenty of opportunities to collaborate with a variety of different stakeholders, including transport operators, community groups, and territorial authorities to ensure that transportation options in Hawke’s Bay are being maximised by our community. You will be part of a small, tight-knit team working in a fast-paced, supportive environment so it’s important that you can work both independently and as part of a group.

About you:

You will be someone with a passion for making a positive impact on outcomes for our community in a sustainable way. Interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people from all walks of life will serve you well in this role, as you connect with people from a diverse range of backgrounds. Our aim is to remove barriers to the use of public and active transport so we need someone who is innovative and enthusiastic in their approach to this work.

Ideally you will also have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification.
• 3 years of experience in a similar role/relevant industry, evidencing good understanding of transport issues in Hawke’s Bay or a similar provincial centre.
• The ability to effectively plan, organise and co-ordinate work to ensure that goals are achieved with the highest quality of work possible within agreed timeframes.
• A kind and caring nature, someone who values connection with others.
• The ability to take initiative and problem solve effectively

The salary range for this role is between $66,060 to $73,400 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
