About the opportunity| Ko te āheinga:

Are you experienced accounting superstar who is passionate about what you do and keen to make a positive impact in our region? We have a lot of work to do here at Council as part of the recovery from Cyclone Gabrielle. While this is going to be a busy time, where we are building solutions and making process improvements as we go, it is also an incredible opportunity to help support our region through things like the disaster relief fund.

We have a combination of fixed term and permanent roles available and can be flexible on aspects such as hours of work and working from home for the right people. Senior Group Accountant [permanent]: This senior level role will require you to be Chartered Accountant. The main focus of this role is to effectively manage key financial accounting and reporting functions for the organisation. This will include delivery of performance, financial and statutory reporting while embodying a culture of continuous improvement. You will be the in-house technical expert supporting the business with taxation, financial reporting standards and financial accounting. You will lead the preparation of financial statements for the Annual Report, Annual Plan and Long-Term Plan and manage the external audit process ensuring accurate and timely compliance. Treasury and Investments Accountant [fixed term]: this crucial role will see you responsible for ensuring the coordination, integration and management of all treasury and investment strategies and portfolios while providing efficient and effective management of Council's corporate insurance and endowment leasehold porfolio. The salary range for the role is between $102,870 to $114,300. Please view the job description here.

Fixed Asset Accountant [fixed term]: In this role you will be accountable for the financial asset reporting including fixed assets, intangible assets and work in progress. You will lead the asset revaluation programme, manage fixed asset movements and support the Finance Team to meet and comply with all legislation, policies and accounting standards. We are open to a range of experience but overall to succeed in this space you would require at least:

• A professional accounting qualification or higher
• Highly developed report writing and verbal communication skills.
• High level Excel and computer skills.
• Confident ability to deliver effectively in pressure situations.
• Local Government experience would be desirable.
• A willingness to learn, try new things and work collaboratively as part of a team
