Role
Hawke's Bay Regional Council is seeking a Transport Manager as it continues to improve on providing an effective public transport system that best serves its community. This role requires someone who is passionate about the role public transport can play in improving the lives of Hawke’s Bay residents and the need to address climate change. You will be responsible for the management of the public transport contracts as well as policy, so experience in this area is essential. This role also has responsibility of future strategies of not just public transport, but other transport initiatives including multi-modal initiatives, RoadSafe Hawke's Bay and the Total Mobility program.
Within this role you will also be motivating a team of highly experienced people who require an active manager that is able to support and develop them as they look to continue to deliver great customer service and an effective and efficient service.
 
Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will be a creative problem solver and have experience in a management position, plus prior experience in contracting and managing public transport services and transport planning or policy experience. You will have experience working with central government agencies to advocate on transport issues of concern within the region and have experience with planning and monitoring within the Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP) framework.
 
Alongside this you will require proven experience in the following areas;

  • Knowledge of funding within a statutory framework.
  • Budgeting and financial management.
  • Project planning and implementation.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement, particularly in a local body environment.
  • Excellent time management, organisation, prioritisation and proactive communication skills.
  • Excellent standard of written and verbal communication.

Supporting approximately 160,000 residents, The Council is responsible for planning and coordinating regional transport, road safety education, and regional cycling in Hawke’s Bay.
