Proposed TANK Plan Change

Proposed TANK Plan for Heretaunga Plains waterways – Plan Change 9
Hawkes Bay Regional Resource Management Plan

The Plan for the Heretaunga Plains waterways and aquifer – Plan Change 9 – proposes to introduce new provisions for the management of land and water in the Tūtaekurī, Ahuriri, Ngaruroro and Karamū catchments into the Regional Resource Management Plan.

The Proposed Plan Change includes objectives for the water bodies in these catchments and policies and methods, including limits, to ensure the objectives can be met.

Change 9 is part of the Regional Council’s broader work programme to give effect to the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management.

Submissions close at 5.00pm on Friday 3 July 2020.

The TANK Plan (Plan Change 9) and its supporting Section 32 report can be viewed or downloaded from hbrc.govt.nz, search: #TANK, or viewed (when open) at public libraries in Napier and Hastings, at Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, 159 Dalton Street, Napier or 280 Guppy Road, Taradale. The process for public participation in the consideration of TANK Plan Change 9 under the Resource Management Act is as follows; After the closing date for submissions, the Regional Council will prepare and notify a summary of the submissions lodged. There will be an opportunity to make a further submission in support of, or in opposition to, the submissions already made. If a submitter asks to be heard in support of their submission, a hearing will be held. After the hearing, the Regional Council will give its decision on TANK Plan Change 9 (including its reasons for accepting or rejecting submissions). Submitters have the right to appeal these decisions to the Environment Court.
