Boat Safety Education

The Harbourmaster is responsible for the successful Safe Boating in Schools programme which is run annually throughout Hawke's Bay at no cost to the schools. This extends to the school holiday and Afcare schemes.

IMG 0330Hawke's Bay Regional Council is pleased to offer a free Boating Safety Education, jointly funded by Maritime New Zealand, for schools and education centres.

Our educators visit schools and teach students about safety in and around boats. This hour long session provides students with a fun and interactive presentation on boating safety, the opportunity to participate in a life jacket demonstration, and to climb aboard our boat to learn about keeping safe while in and around boats.

If you would like us to bring this interactive and beneficial programme to your school or Afcare centre, please read and complete the registration form within the PDF below. If you have any questions about the programme please call our Harbourmaster, Martin Moore, on +64 6 835 9200 or email him here.
