Our staff are here to help you with advice and support. We have catchment offices based in Wairoa, Napier and Waipawa, and other support and specialist staff based in Napier. You'll also find resources on this page to help you.

About our team

Our staff have an extensive and diverse range of skills in the sustainable management of land in the Hawke’s Bay region. We work closely with landholders, community groups, industry and government agencies, to promote and provide advice on sustainable land use.

What does the team do?

The team aims to increase the proportion of the region that is being used in ways considered to be sustainable through:

  • Supporting and providing advice to landowners and their managers through one on one and group contacts
  • working with landowners to prepare erosion control plans for their property
  • supporting catchment and landcare groups and their activities
  • providing training in sustainable land management techniques.

How can we help you?

Our catchment teams are here to work with farmers, growers, forestry, agri-business and community groups to find solutions to land management issues. Key areas of support include:

  • soil conservation through land stabilisation and interception methods
  • improving water quality through appropriate fencing and plantings
  • the protection and enhancement of biodiversity
  • reducing the loss of nutrients to water
  • nutrient management advice
  • advice on stock exclusion
