Central government has set a new direction for improving water quality and protecting life in our rivers, lakes, streams and aquifers. It is our job to make it happen, so the Regional Council has proposed amendments to the Regional Policy Statement. 29 submissions were received on Change 5 and nine further submissions were lodged in support or opposition to those origional 29 submissions. Decisions have been made on those submissions. 4 Appeals were lodged with the Environment Court.
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has completed amendments that modify existing objectives and policies in the Regional Resource Management Plan (RRMP). Primarily, the amendments insert new policies and amends existing policies in the Regional Policy Statement relating to freshwater resources.
