Strategic Projects

With increasing pressures on land use and growing demand for water, the integrated management of land and water has become as critical as it is complex.  HBRC considers that the best way to achieve integrated management is on a catchment-wide basis.

Effective catchment planning and management is the foundation on which we improve water quality, reduce over-allocation, manage the effects of changing and intensifying land use, and reduce flooding risk.

Integrated Catchment Management Plans (ICMPs) or Catchment Management Plans (CMPs) are the tools we use to manage water resources and land use at a catchment scale.

The following strategic projects and their associated ICMP’s or CMP’s enable the integrated management of land and water across Hawke’s Bay. Click on the link to find out more information on each of these projects.
