Maritime Event Application Form

Reserve an area on our coastal waters or inland waterways for commercial operations, sport, recreational, or celebratory events.

Reserving an area

Organisers of commercial operations, sporting events, or recreational activities may apply for a temporary reserved area under the provisions of the Navigation Safety Bylaw. This ensures the safety of all water users.

A temporary reserved area:

  • Ensures the public can be notified.
  • Allows the organisers of the event/activity to manage that area for the duration of the reservation.
  • Ensures other activities not related to the event, or approved by the organiser, will not be allowed within the reserved area for the duration of the reservation.
  • May have clauses of the bylaw uplifted for the duration of the reservation.
  • Avoids clashes and with other activities.

Event approval

Additionally, all events that occur on, in, or above the water that may pose a hazard to maritime safety require an event approval. This ensures that the public is notified of the event and measures are taken to ensure safety for water users.

Even if a temporary reserved area or event approval is not required for the proposed activity, please notify the Harbourmaster of any planned activity to avoid clashes with other events.
