Cyclone Gabrielle Response and Recovery

We are working hard to support our community and restore vital infrastructure. The priority for flood protection works repairing stopbanks is ongoing.

The recovery phase for our region is just beginning to take shape. The impact of the cyclone has been felt right across our region and means that all our councils play an important part in facing this challenge.

We are not in this alone, we have the support of central government, as well as expertise and knowledge coming from other parts of Aotearoa. While this is a new experience for us we can take some comfort in knowing that being faced with such a devastating natural disaster can be overcome.
