Accredited Meter Installation and Verification Companies

The Regional Council has been working with other councils around the country and with Irrigation New Zealand (INZ) to ensure national consistency with the Water Meter Regulations. By using a Blue Tick Accredited company to undertake your work, you will know that they are aware of the rules and regulations that they must comply with on your behalf.

Companies who have obtained Blue Tick Accreditation remain Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Approved Installers and Verifiers.

Where water measuring devices do not meet the Regional Council’s approved devices criteria or are not installed by an approved installer, a full compliance audit may be undertaken. The costs involved are covered in our fees and charges document.

Telemetry

Telemetry provides an economical and efficient method to access remote data instantly, saving time and costs by eliminating manual data collection, and assisting with reporting water use to council.

Monitoring of water use is one function of telemetry and the Regional Council is encouraging users to fully utilize telemetry, by also monitoring soil moisture, weather, pump status, volumes and rate. Most service providers have systems that are able to send text and email alarms when you are close to or are breaching your consented limits. To find the best provider for you, make sure that you talk to several companies before making a decision. Buying the cheapest telemetry is not always the best solution, as you may later want to add on the extra monitoring features.

Telemetry providers are the companies that develop the telemetry equipment you will use. The data is first sent to their servers, and then they forward it to Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. They may also provide the portal where you can view your data.

Installers are the people who install the telemetry equipment on your property. They may work for the telemetry provider company, or they may be a reseller. The installer is responsible for submitting the form to HBRC with the details of the telemetry installation.

Resellers are companies that purchase telemetry units from the telemetry provider and install them on your property. They liaise with the telemetry provider to ensure the equipment is set up correctly.
