The Regional Planning Committee oversees the review and development of the Regional Policy Statement and regional plans for the Hawke’s Bay region and is the co-governance group for the management of natural resources in Hawke’s Bay.

What is the role of the Regional Planning Committee?

The role of the Regional Planning Committee (RPC) is to oversee the review and development of the Regional Policy Statement and regional plans for the Hawke’s Bay region, as required under the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA). This committee is the co-governance group for the management of natural resources in Hawke’s Bay, with an equal number of Regional Councillors and Post Settlement Governance Entity (PSGE) representatives. 
All committee members have full speaking and voting rights. 

This committee considers and recommends strategies, policies, rules and other methods for inclusion into the Regional Resource Management and Regional Coastal Environment Plans to Council. The committee will also make recommendations to Council to ensure the effective implementation of plans, processes, research, monitoring and enforcement to satisfy the requirements of the RMA, National Policy Statements, National Environmental Standards and relevant associated legislation.

Councillor Members: All Councillors except Sophie Siers and Neil Kirton.

Mana Hazel (Hineuru Iwi Trust),  Tania Eden (Mana Ahuriri Trust), Tania Hopmans (Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust), Theresa Thornton (Ngāti Pāhauwera Development & Tiaki Trust), Mike Mohi (Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust), Nicky Kirikiri (Te Toi Kura o Waikaremoana), Laura Kele and Keri Ropiha (Heretaunga Tamatea Settlement Trust).    

The Regional Planning Committee was established by the Hawke's Bay Regional Planning Committee Act 2015

Public Attendance

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend all Council and Committees meetings which are held in the Council Chamber at 159 Dalton Street, Napier unless otherwise noted.

The Chairperson will ask members of the public to leave if and when the meeting moves into a public excluded section of the meeting.
