We support environmental learning through a range of education programmes and resources to develop understanding and commitment to keeping our environment safe for wildlife, plants and us. We also run other education programmes.
The Regional Council run other education programmes.
The Harbourmaster delivers our boating safety in schools programme teaching students about safety in and around boats. The sessions are fun and interactive, and allow the children to climb aboard our boat to learn about keeping safe while in and around boats.
Roadsafe Hawke’s Bay run road safety programmes in partnership with New Zealand Police and other local and national groups. They deliver programmes designed to reduce the incidence and severity of road traffic crashes, and engage particularly with youth.
Meet Sally Chandler, our Community Engagement Advisor - leading Environmental Education at Hawke’s Bay Regional Council
Hi and welcome to the Education Hub at Hawke's Bay Regional Council.
Our aim is to help students develop environmentally responsible attitudes and a commitment to help keep our environment a safe and secure place for future generations.
We offer a variety of environmental education resources. The majority of these resources are aimed at tamariki in years 4 – 8. Check out the options on the Resources button below.
In my role I can come into the classroom to deliver these resources for you. Alternatively we can work out in the field to undertake stream studies.
We can provide support and advice on a beach or river clean up, providing health & safety, rubbish bags & gloves. In winter you may be able to join us for tree planting.
