Elections Ngā Pōti

Local government elections are held every 3 years when residents can vote for a regional councillor to represent them. The Hawke’s Bay region has five constituencies represented by Councillors, with representation determined by the Electoral Commission New Zealand and based on population.

Being an elected member of Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is an opportunity for you to work with our local communities for a better environment.

A by-election was required to fill an extraordinary vacancy for the Hastings constituency of the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. This by-election arose from the resignation of councillor Rex Graham.
