At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

We are looking for a Treasury and Funding Accountant to join the Finance team. The Treasury and Funding Accountant leads the day-to-day management of the treasury and funding function for HBRC, including assisting with the strategic direction according to Council's policy, relevant legislation, and community needs. The position is responsible for ensuring the coordination, integration and management of all treasury and investment strategies and portfolios while providing efficient and effective management of Council's corporate insurance and endowment leasehold porfolio.

You will have a broad understanding of accounting and financial systems with an ability to build relationships and deal with ambiguity. You will be well versed in communicating financial information to diverse audiences.

Ideally you will also have:

  • Tertiary Accounting Qualification
  • Chartered Accountants Qualification + minimum of 5 years experience
  • High level of excel modelling & computer skills.
  • High level of reporting skills.
