About the Opportunity:

The Hawkes Bay Regional Council (HBRC) Works Group has an exciting opportunity for a Catchment Worker to join our team.  We need an experienced all-rounder who can focus on civil construction. This is a fulltime, permanent position and will be based at our Guppy Road, Taradale site.  This role will suit someone who enjoys working in the outdoors, is physically fit, has a commitment to safe work practices, and wants to work in a positive team environment. 

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have a clean current Class 1 drivers license and have experience in manual tree felling.  Ideally you will be a multi-skilled person who is competent in the areas of pipe laying, concrete placement, general carpentry, fencing, chainsaw and scrub-bar operation .

Alongside this, you will:

  • be a hands on, practical person who is willing to get out there with a can-do attitude
  • Have experience in spraying and general construction works
  • Be competent in the use of a 4WD vehicle
  • Ability to communicate well with a broad spectrum of people including land owners and engineers
  • NZQA qualifications relating to pipe laying, concrete placement, general carpentry, fencing, chainsaw or scrub-bar operation would be an advantage.
  • Have good documentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrate safe work practices, have a positive attitude toward health and safety in the workplace and be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment.

The hourly rate for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
