At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

 

About the Opportunity:

Due to additional project requirements, we’re on the hunt for a GIS Analyst to join our GIS Team on 3-year fixed term basis.  We’re dedicated to delivering excellent service to our internal and external customers and the person in this role will bring added enthusiasm and quality analytical skills to support the team outcomes.

The key aspects of the role involve working on multiple projects within the Council, using GIS to visualise and analyse spatial data. You will also apply your GIS skills to create meaningful insight utilising both web and field applications along with the opportunity to learn, grow and directly contribute to Council with a very visible and tangible impact on our service delivery.

 

About you:

You will ideally have some commercial experience in the GIS field, be enthusiastic about Geospatial technologies and possess proven ability to apply your developed technical knowledge to determine stakeholder needs and propose optimal GIS solutions to meet them.

Ideally you will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in GIS (or related subject)
  • Working knowledge of ESRI software product suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
