At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

 

About the Opportunity:

Our GIS Team is dedicated to delivering excellent service to our internal and external customers. We are on the hunt for Senior GIS Analysts who will bring their enthusiasm, experience and quality analytical skills to support our growing team in this permanent full-time role.   

The position involves working with all parts of the Council, using GIS to develop and provide location insights.  We have an exciting programme of work ahead of us, that would provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to apply their GIS skills working with a huge variety of dataset while utilising enterprise, web, desktop and mobile applications.  The role also allows the opportunity to train and mentor other team members, and potentially take on the GIS Leader position.

 

About you:

You will be an engaging and innovative individual who can work collaboratively within a team to deliver high quality outputs and meet the needs of the wider organisation. You will be passionate about geospatial technologies, display excellent interpersonal skills and ideally have the following:

  • Proven experience at a Senior/Lead level
  • A tertiary qualification in GIS, information management or technology or similar
  • Working knowledge of the ESRI software product suite
