About the Opportunity:

The Consents team provide guidance and advice on resource consenting matters to stakeholders including the community, tangata whenua, resource consent applicants, resource consent holders, interested or affected parties and to internal HBRC staff. They also play a vital part in establishing and applying procedures for receiving, processing and managing resource consents.

HBRC is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Senior Consents Planner to join our growing consents team. Reporting to the Team Leader Consents you will be an integral member of our consents planning team, working alongside others to process resource consents that are submitted. You will be a solution focused individual with a drive to support, engage and educate the Hawke’s Bay community. The role will see you assessing complex resource consent applications in accordance with parameters of the RMA and relevant Regional plans and policies, enabling you to make informed decisions on how to best respond and process each application.

 

About you:

You will be someone who consistently produces quality work that you take pride in and enjoy being an active member of the team. You will be confident of providing robust resource management advice to both internal and external stakeholders, and have the capability to lead projects, working closely with other members of the team.

A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in resource management, public policy or related field. Ideally you will also have:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a similar role/relevant industry
  • In-depth knowledge of the Resource Management legislation.
  • Excellent understanding of the consents process.
  • A clear understanding of cultural issues in resource management.
  • Proven experience in consent processing and managing complex resource management issues and processes.
  • Proven facilitation experience
  • The ability to engage and manage suitable technical experts, as necessary to assist with assessing consent applications, and to ensure that deliverables are provided within established timeframes and cost expectations.
  • A demonstrated ability to prepare clear concise reports and letters for a range of audiences.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to manage priorities to ensure that deadlines are met, allowing sufficient and reasonable time for internal review processes and that any significant issues are identified as early as possible in the consent process.

The salary range will be between $99,900 and $111,000 dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
