At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

 

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Technical Delivery Team Leader to join the Information Communications Technology (ICT) team.  The role provides leadership and direction for a team working on technical aspects of system design, implementation and operational support along with developing the frameworks and support processes to ensure that technical delivery is conducted in repeatable and supportable way across HBRC.

The Technical Delivery Team Leader will work closely with key stakeholders including project managers, product owners and customer leads to understand and manage the team’s workload and will also need to proactively manage tasks, prioritizing and allocating them across the team to ensure balance between project work, operational support and internal process improvements.

 

About you:

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification along with proven leadership and/or project management experience and your 10+ years’ experience will include a blend of software development, technology implementation, system administration and support.  Professional training and certification in IT technical or IT architecture will be advantageous.

You’ll be a strong communicator who is able to mediate between people and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and can successfully guide people on a journey when new tools, processes and systems are introduced.

Along with sound judgement and initiative your well-honed planning and organisation skills translate into deadlines being met and changing priorities being absorbed and prioritised.

To top it all off, you’ll have significant experience in:

  • modern, cloud-based technology standards and practices
  • delivering technology change in a fast-paced agile environment
  • optimising the delivery flow of technical teams and be confident of making the right technology choices as the right time
