Technical Advisor - Water Information Services - Fixed term 6 months

About the Opportunity: 

We are looking for a Technical Advisor to join the Environmental Information team. This is a six-month fixed term opportunity. The role involves establishing good relationships with consent holders and service providers and ensuring ‘best practice’ for the installation and verification of fixed water meters and portable pumps. Developing and maintaining effective relationships with consent holders is key to the success of this role.

The role is a combination of office-based and field work, utilizing various programs and databases to ensure compliance for consent holders is achieved and maintained.

Our ideal candidate will be a positive minded person with an understanding of the implementation of the Resource Management Act and how this relates to the Measurement and Reporting of Water Takes. Experience with web-based capture tools, GIS software, and the ability to interpret and analyse time series data will be an advantage.

Aptitude and attitude are of primary importance, and on-the-job training will be available to the successful candidate.

 

About you:

You will have an interest in water resource management and recent irrigation developments in addition to:

  • High level of Microsoft Office and computer literacy
  • Analytical thinking and good data management practices
  • A clean full driver’s licence
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a cool head under pressure
  • Customer service and solution focus
  • Time management and organisational skills
