About the opportunity| Ko te āheinga:

The Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest for an experienced Senior Group Accountant, to be based within the Corporate Services group. The main focus of this role is to effectively manage key financial accounting and reporting functions for the organisation. This will include delivery of performance, financial and statutory reporting while embodying a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer you will be the in-house technical expert supporting the business with taxation, financial reporting standards and financial accounting. You will lead the preparation of financial statements for the Annual Report, Annual Plan and Long Term Plan and manage the external audit process ensuring accurate and timely compliance and.

This is a busy and challenging position for a professional chartered accountant with at least 5 years senior financial accounting experience.

 

other key attributes for the role include:

 

  • Professional Accounting qualification and Chartered Accountant Membership.
  • Local Government experience is desirable.
  • Highly developed report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert level Excel and computer skills.
  • Confident ability to deliver effectively in pressure situations.
  • A clean full driver’s licence. 
  • Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

 The salary range for the Senior Group Accountant role is between $111,330 to $123,700. This will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
